Robyn

To say that Robyn has had a busy year is a major understatement.

Two full days per week at The Leprosy Mission kept Mondays and Wednesdays full for most of the year, although this has recently been reduced to just Mondays. Helping at Kathleens school has also taken up an enjoyable amount of Robyns time. She is well known by students, teachers and parents, is a regular Canteen Mum (her Slinky Apples are legendary around the playground), and has been known to attend many a class/school excursion.

Attending some kind of quilting class once a week every alternate month have produced several quilts, many half completed quilts, and a seemingly endless supply of material squares. Packages arrive with "eBay Purchase" written on them from all over the globe, each containing more coloured material squares than the last. Aiming for a new red eBay user star (100+ transactions) sees Robyn regularly trawling eBay for bargains, or selling our stuff for a vastly inflated price. Robyns eBay "for sale" advertisements more often than not generate multiple bids from hungry buyers, which has resulted in a happy increase to our slush fund. Next time you're playing on eBay, watch out for robyn8332 !! Or, check out her Theme Song. (Theme Song is 1.83mb, and is a .wmv file).

A few months of one evening a week studying to be an English As A Second Language (ESL) teacher has seen Robyn become friends with two other "mums" from Kathleens class. Vani and Kasthuri and their families are from Bangalore, India, and have only been in Australia for a year or so. Kasthuri's English was almost zero when they first met. Robyn has taught them useful English - money / shopping / health / school / etc, and they in turn have taught her heaps about cooking curries. We have had some great meals at their place and they have experienced a real Australian Barbeque - given that they had not ever seen either a BBQ nor a sausage this was an eye opening experience for them.

When Robyn is not being a sensational mum, or running children from swimming lessons to school to choir to gymnastics and back again, or supervising renovations, or painting the walls, or organising her family, or working a couple of days a week in various voluntary and/or paid capacities, or doing her sewing and quilts, or buying and selling stuff on eBay, or planning holidays, she can often be found playing in the garden. Perhaps it might be more accurate to suggest that she wishes she could get out into the garden, but finding the time is difficult.... The garden would be looking quite sad given the lack of water, but thanks to Robyns efforts it is looking quite a picture.
